Leire Iturregui Mardaras
Associate Professor (2019). PhD from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (2011), Degree in Journalism and in Political Science and Administration, specializing in International Relations, from the same university. Since 2009 she has been a lecturer in the Department of Journalism II, in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication of the UPV/EHU.
She currently teaches the subjects Radio News Writing, News Broadcasting and Communication Cabinets in the Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and participates as a teacher in the Master’s Degree in International Studies, the Master’s Degree in Multimedia Komunikazioa UPV/EHU-EITB and the Master’s Degree in Social Communication Research.
In the research field, she has participated in ten research projects funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the University of the Basque Country and the Basque Studies Society-Eusko Ikaskuntza, and in two educational innovation projects. He has worked in local radio stations of Cadena SER and has collaborated with the newspaper El Correo. Between 2008 and 2011 she was in charge of communications for the Association of Basque Municipalities-EUDEL. Her lines of research are conflict journalism (peace journalism, war journalism), institutional communication, professional and working conditions of journalists, and gender, communication and education.
